K.S.A Shows Gratitude..

Following the success of December’s ‘Sunny On Sunday’ Concert, Juju maestro, King Sunny Ade, embarked on a thank-you tour to some eminent Nigerians for their various roles culminating in the success of his 70th Birthday Grandstand Concert.
Although it has been several weeks since the event held at Balmoral Marquee, Federal Palace Hotel,

Victoria Island, the ‘Sunny On Sunday’ Concert left a huge mark as one of the most talked about events to be witnessed in the country. During the historic event, King Sunday’s Vintage Fender guitar, designed by the artist Victor Ehikhamenor, sold for a record N52.1 million.
During his two-day, thank-you tour, the Juju maestro criss-crossed Lagos and Abuja in the company of the Temple Management team, led by CEO/ Founder, Idris Olorunnimbe.

At each of his stops, the juju maestro donated KSA branded materials to his VIP guests which included the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Minister of Mines and Steel, Kayode Fayemi, the current and previous MD/CEOs of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede as well as the Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Tunde Fowler.
Other host on the whistle-stop tour included His Royal Majesty Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi and Victor Ehikhamenor who painted his famous guitar.
The final visit was made to Babatunde Folawiyo, Chairman, Temple Management Company, who revealed that the ‘Sunny on Sunday’ was the product of an 11-year old covenant between him and KSA. “I have always been a Sunny Ade fan,” Mr. Folawiyo said, adding “We have the bad habit, as a nation, of celebrating only the dead. It was one of the proudest moments of my life for Temple Management to have the honour to serenade a living icon such as KSA.”
Speaking further, the Founder/CEO, Mr. Olorunnimbe said, despite time constraints, the Temple Management Company were able to deliver a technically flawless production.
Another major highpoint of King Sunny visit was at the Ministry of Information and Culture where the Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed announced that King Sunny Ade would be made one of the ambassadors of the ‘Change begins With Me’ campaign.
Announcing the appointment, he said: “We are looking for people like you (King Sunny Ade) that the younger ones can look up to. It’s not just that you have been around for fifty years but you have been around for fifty years without any single stain on your part and that is very hard.
Alhaji Mohammed eulogized King Sunny Ade for elevating the juju music genre into an international commodity that is now accepted all over the world.
“Most people like you would have had one issue or the other that today their integrity would be at take. Your integrity is as strong if not stronger than when you started. So it would be a pleasure if you can accept to be our Ambassador of the “Change Begins With Me”.
“I want the younger ones to look at you and see that you can actually get to the top without cutting corners. That is exactly what you have done. You have never cut corners and you have gotten to the top. ” While accepting the offer to serve as an Ambassador of the “Change Begins With Me” Campaign, King Sunny Ade pledged to partner with the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture to move the nation forward.

Chatterbox media personality and Vlogger Toke Makinwa has allayed fears over the recent N100 million lawsuit filed against her by her ex-husband Maje Ayida over the publication of her book entitled “On Becoming…”
In her latest Vlog titled ‘Daddy Issues’ which she shot during her recent book tour in London, Toke allayed the fears of her fans on the pending court case saying her attorneys are on the case.
“As you guys might have heard, there’s a lot going on in the news and the little that I have, let’s just hope I have it after a while. For all the people that reached out to me, my lawyers are on it, I don’t think you have anything to worry about, that’s all I’ll say.” She said.

Fitness instructor, Maje slammed his ex-wife with the lawsuit for the publication of her book which he claims is largely fabricated and a dent to his image and by extension his business brand.
Reports say the lawsuit was filed before the Lagos High Court on February 2 by Maje’s lawyer, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) of Pinheiro jLP while Kachifo Limited, was also named in the suit.
Maje employed the services of a British law firm to sue Toke over the published book which revealed the alleged details of their failed marriage.

The Federal Government Of Nigeria begins payment of 5,000 Naira To One Million Poor Nigerians..

The Federal Government plans to spend N 915 m on counterpart funding for the procurement of contraceptive commodities this year .
The budget for the national distribution of the commodities is also included in the allocation.
The sum is part of the total sum of N 31 . bn allocated to the Federal Ministry of Health in the 2017 Appropriation Bill currently before the National Assembly.
According to the details of the document obtained by our correspondent , the huge sum will be spent on contraceptives based on what government called 2016 forecast.
Contraceptives are birth control devices or devices intended to prevent conception.
The sum is different from another N 12 . 3 m allocated for what the government called the “ last mile distribution of contraceptive commodities . ”
Another N 1 .8 m is allocated for the training of community health extension workers on long acting reversible contraceptives .
According to the details, the government will also spend N 1 . 2 bn on contribution and counterpart funding for UNICEF for the procurement of RUTF ; and N 9 m will be spent as support for states in the development of implementation plan for the Nigerian Family Planning Blueprint.
The government will also spend N 1 .5 bn on the placement of 100, 000 on HIV treatment and management .
The takeoff of the Tobacco Control Unit as stipulated in the National Tobacco Control Act will also gulp N 12. 5 m .
Meanwhile , the Federal Government on Monday denied media reports that N 29 bn was provided in the 2017 budget to fight militancy .
The Ministry of Budget and National Planning in a statement by the Media Adviser to the Minister , Mr . Akpandem James , said no such provision was made by the ministry in the budget.
The statement said President Muhammadu Buhari had consistently and categorically stated that the focus of his administration in 2017 would be to continue to pursue peace initiatives in the Niger Delta through dialogue and engagement .
It added that this was the reason why among other projects earmarked for the Niger Delta , N 65bn was provided in the 2017 budget proposals for the re-integration of transformed ex - militants under the Presidential Amnesty Programme .
The statement read in part , “ The attention of the Ministry of Budget and National Planning has been drawn to a story which quotes a statement reportedly issued on Saturday night and signed by a member of the Central Working Committee of the Pan Niger Delta Forum , Dr. Alfred Mulade, that the Federal Government had earmarked N 29 bn in the 2017 budget, specifically to fight militancy in the Niger Delta .
“ It must be clearly stated that there is no such provision in the 2017 budget proposals presented by the President, so we have absolutely no idea where this story is coming from.”

Nigeria will face Denmark in the quarter final of the Rio Olympics men’s football event in Salvador today, August 13, but they may be without their star player Oghenekaro Etebo.
This follows report that the attacking midfielder may not be in action against the Scandinavians due to a hamstring injury he sustained against Colombia in the team’s last outing.
A scan on Thursday, August 11, confirmed that Etebo has torn a muscle and may miss today’s game and the rest of the tournament should Nigeria make it into the next round.
Many had questioned Siasia’s decision to play the CD Feirense player in the match versus Colombia as the team’s had secured top spot in Group B, but the 42-year-old will be looking to put smiles back on the faces of Nigerians when his team come up against Denmark tonight.
The match at Fonte Nova Arena is the second meeting between the teams in the space of two months. Emil Larsen netted three times to ensure Denmark thumped Nigeria 6-2 in the Suwon tournament in South Korea in June.
However, Samson Siasia will hope that John Mikel Obi’s leadership will guide the team  victory against Denmark despite not having any advantage over the Danes.

The Nigerian Navy, on Saturday, August 13 paraded two suspects believed to members of the dreaded militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).

Parading the suspects at the Warri Naval Base, Warri, Commander, NNS Delta, Commodore Joseph Dzunve said the suspects were behind series of attack on oil and gas facilities especially in Warri South West Council Area of the state.
Commodore Dzunve, disclosed that the suspects were behind the attacks on Chevron Nigerian Limited (CNL) facilities within May and July 2016.
The two suspects who were identified as Stanley Toghan and Felix Miyenminiye were arrested in Sapele area of the state.
The Naval Chief said: “You are all aware of the recent series of attack on oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta and in particular Delta State for which some groups/persons have claimed responsibilities.
“Today, I am pleased to inform you that after persistent efforts, the Nigerian Navy Ship Delta, being part of the maritime component of the Operation Delta Safe, has arrested two suspects responsible for the attack on Chevron facilities, witnessed between May and July2016, around Warri North axis of Delta state.”

The autopsy report revealed that he had an enlarged heart and high blood pressure, reminiscent of Marc Vivien Foe’s demise in similar circumstances in 2003.
For this especially, along with other patriotic acts, the trendsetting law graduate and enigmatic midfielder was a worthy legend in every sense. The man of God turned politician, whose campaign organisation, Osagie Ize-Iyamu Compaign Organisa­tion dismissed the allegations leveled against the PDP flag bearer, that he is working secretly with Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Arthor Okowa, at hiring 40 political thugs who would be registered as voters at the border areas of Edo state and will then be used as agents of destruction, de­stabilisation, electoral malpractice and violence during the September 10, 2016 governorship election.

The Campaign Organisation stated that there is no iota of truth in what the APC said.
Ize-Iyamu winner of the PDP Edo state governorship primary election of Monday, June 20, is still having some issues within his party, as the embattled factional national chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff said the PDP governorship primaries was null and void.

In a statement issued by the PDP group, it reads: “In rather acerbic language, the APC-controlled state government accused the Edo state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in their pattern of crying wolf where none existed.

“We wish to place the security agencies on notice of these untoward intention of the neighbouring state government with their Edo PDP collaborators to cause a breach of security in Edo state.
“The APC and its leader have seen the clear writing of victory on the wall and are bent on doing everything imaginable to whip up undue sentiments against the PDP and its wave-making governorship candidate.”

Tragic Incident of a Corper

Rivers state operatives have arrested five people on suspicion of having abducted and killed a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Sampson Worlu.
According to Vanguard, the gang allegedly killed the hostage after having collected a ransom of N1.5 million paid for his release. Sampson had served in Imo state before his abduction in Rivers.
However, the suspects were tracked and nabbed by the men of the Rivers state Department of State Security. All the five are facing charges at a Port Harcourt magistrate court.
The victim’s brother, Charles Worlu, narrated that the kidnappers had made their family pay the ransom twice: first one million naira and then five hundred thousand naira. But they never returned their relative. Now all the family wants is justice, Charles says.
